Benefits of tubal ligation

– It has no side effects.
– There are no hormone worries. If you do not want to use a hormonal method, this is one option. Plus, sterilization does not change your body’s natural hormones.
– It’s low effort. You have the procedure once, and you never have to think about it again.
– It’s a good option if you already have enough kids or you do not want any kids.
– You can have sex without worrying about pregnancy.

Tubal ligation side effects

There are no known side effects of tubal ligations. However, you may experience surgery-related complications, including

– bleeding,
– infection,
– a reaction to anesthesia, and
– a very rare risk that your tubes may reconnect themselves, which could lead to pregnancy (8).

Disadvantages of tubal ligation

– It’s permanent. Before you get a tubal ligation, you need to be 100% sure you do not want to have biological children.
– It doesn’t protect against STIs (2).
