Health benefits

Can be taken by breastfeeding mothers.
If used correctly by breastfeeding women, it is 99% effective in preventing pregnancy.
It has a lower dose of hormones compared to the combined pill.
Unlike the combined contraceptive pill, the Progestin-only pill does not cause a higher risk of blood clots. It can therefore be used by some women who cannot take the combined pill. For instance, those with severe migraines and high blood pressure.
Can be used for post-sex or emergency contraception. Progestin-only pill, if taken within 72 hours after having sex, may help to stop or delay ovulation. However, it cannot prevent or disrupt implantation.
It may help to relieve the symptoms of pre-menstrual syndrome or painful periods.
It can be used at any age, even by female smokers above 35 years. [7].
