When should I use contraceptives?

As soon as you are sexually active, you should use contraceptives. How often you use them depends on the type of contraceptive that you choose. For example, the oral contraceptive pill needs to be taken daily; the injection or implant is used intermittently, the IUD is inserted once every few years, a condom is used before sex, and the emergency contraceptive pill is used after sex.
